Vasile Tofan, Senior Partner Horizon Capital, is one of the speakers of MIRSANU IPO CHALLENGE 2023.

Vasile Tofan is Senior Partner and a member of the Investment Committee. He joined Horizon Capital in August 2012, following a career in both management consulting as well as industry. At Horizon Capital, Mr. Tofan continues to build on his experience in the consumer goods and technology sectors, playing an active role in firm’s investments in tech.

Prior to joining the firm, as a consultant with Monitor Group (now Monitor Deloitte) in Amsterdam, Mr. Tofan focused on growth-enhancement projects, predominantly in the FMCG, healthcare and tech sectors, working mostly in emerging markets, including Russia, Nigeria, Romania, and Slovakia. 

His work ranged from marketing strategy development, sales-force effectiveness, pricing optimization and capability building.  At Philips, he worked on business development and M&A projects for the Healthcare, Consumer Electronics and Lighting businesses, being admitted to Philips’ highly selective High-Potential Program. During his MBA, he founded and led Ovuline (now Ovia Health, acquired by LabCorp), a Boston-based start-up which grew to become a leading player in the digital health space.

He received an MBA, with distinction, from Harvard Business School and holds an Masters and Bachelors in Public Management from the Netherlands’ Erasmus University Rotterdam.

Horizon Capital is a leading private equity firm in Emerging Europe and manage six funds with assets under management of over USD 1.4 billion. Its portfolio includes Purcari, a leading wine producer in CEE listed on Bucharest Stock Exchange, and Maib, the largest commercial bank in Moldova, holding circa 30% of assets in the Moldovan banking sector.
