Marius Gavrea, Sustainability Manager of ING Bank Romania, is one of the speakers of THE SUSTAINABILITY CHALLENGE 2024.

Marius joined the ING Bank Romania team in 2015, with the launching of the activity of financing agriculture in the Business Banking segment.

He has almost 25 years of experience in the Agribusiness and Financial sectors, with responsibilities in business development and coordination of sales teams, both regionally and nationally.

Within ING, Marius developed new products, strategies and processes for the agricultural segment and over the last 3 years he has been involved in establishing the sustainable strategy for Business Banking clients. He also played an active role in monitoring lending conditions and structuring financing transactions, as well as in negotiating financing offers. Also, Marius conducted various seminars to inform clients about financing solutions and about the importance of the transitions to sustainable business models.

Starting this month, Marius coordinates the bank’s sustainability activity, which involves the development and implementation of programs that contribute to the protection of the environment and the financial health of customers and the community. He graduated from the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics of Babes Bolyai University Cluj-Napoca.

On October 10, 2024, THE SUSTAINABILITY CHALLENGE 2024 will be hosted by MIRSANU.RO transaction journal with the support of KPMG in Romania.

Florin Ilie, Deputy CEO & Head Wholesale Banking ING Bank Romania: Cred ca piata de credite verzi a crescut exponential in ultimii doi ani peste pragul de 1 mld. euro. Cand acordam finantari verzi urmarim indicatori precum kg de CO2 per MWh produs la proiectele de energie regenerabila sau kg de CO2 pe metru patrat la proiectele din sectorul rezidential

“Noi la ING pe segmentul companiilor mari avem deja vreo 7 tranzactii de aceasta categorie (finantare verde – n.r.) plus doua emisiuni de bonduri verzi. Daca vorbim despre ponderea acestor tranzactii in total portofoliu pe corporatii mari este de 12%, deci deja semnificativ as spune. Iar daca vorbim despre segmentul IMM-urilor, deja am inceput si in acest segment de anul acesta. Iar pe total piata credite pentru companii in Romania, conform datelor BNR, in urma cu un an si jumatate deja era cam 4% din piata clasificabila in acest segment din creditele acordate, undeva la 1 mld. euro echivalent, cam 5 mld. RON. Dar daca extrapolam pe urmatoarea perioada pentru care nu avem neaparat transparenta datelor inca statistic, probabil ca a fost o crestere mai degraba exponentiala in ultimii doi ani de zile. Si am vazut asta si la nivel european“, a declarat Florin Ilie, Deputy CEO & Head Wholesale Banking ING Bank Romania, una dintre cele mai mari banci de pe piata bancara locala, la THE SUSTAINABILITY CHALLENGE 2022, eveniment organizat pe 25 octombrie de catre jurnalul de tranzactii MIRSANU.RO.

“Noi suntem acum undeva la vreo 250 mil. euro date si am facut si intermedieri de obligatiuni verzi. Este public, ultima data am publicat ceva anul acesta in primul trimestru si sunt 500 mil. euro intermediate acolo intr-un sindicat bancar impreuna cu alte banci“, adauga bancherul ING.

Potrivit acestuia, exista standarul de raportare al activelor verzi in domeniul bancar, care va fi implementat in curand.

“Si in Romania, din iunie cred ca se fac raportari la cerere la Centrala Riscurilor de Credit tot pe criterii de acest gen. Toate aceste criterii sunt definite la nivel european“, explica Florin Ilie.

“Tindem sa promovam inconstient ideea ca vorbim numai despre energie regenerabila si eficienta energetica. Conform calculelor, tehnic vorbind, acestea doua reprezinta numai 55% din ce se intampla cu emisiile, in realitate restul de 45% grosso modo (in ansamblu – n.r.) se refera la economie circulara. Asta inseamna ca vei reusi sa consumi cat consumai ieri, fara sa saracesti. Cum poti sa ai o viata buna si in acelasi timp sa nu poluezi cat poluezi astazi? 45% din raspunsul la aceasta intrebare se afla in economia circulara. Sa nu mai produci ab initio (de la inceput – n.r.) la fel de multa mancare, la fel de multe masini, haine, metale s.a.m.d. si sa incerci sa reduci risipa si sa reciclezi. Probabil una dintre cele mai mari investitii pe care am cofinantat-o noi este parcul Green Group de reciclare pet-uri, sticla si electronice“, a mai spus reprezentantul ING Bank Romania.

Din 2024, ING va raporta pentru anul anterior 2023 aceste active bancare categorisite conform taxonomiei UE ceea ce se numeste green asset reporting si va avea la baza un standard comun de raportare al activelor bancare, adauga acesta.

“Noi functionam in Romania in tandem cu grupul (ING – n.r.), si nu disociat. Grupul continua sa faca ce a spus ca face in urma cu ceva vreme si a si implementat. E vorba de o abordare pragmatica, ce analizeaza 9 sectoare. De pilda, pe langa cele 9 sectoare vor include si altele. De pilda, in generarea de electricitate, aici indicatorul pe care il urmarim este kg de CO2 pe MWh produs. Daca se imbunatateste acest indicator, finantam. In felul acesta finantezi si energia pentru economie, dar in acelasi timp finantezi o productie mai putin poluanta“, precizeaza Florin Ilie de la ING.

“Alt sector este si real estate, altul este residential real estate, avem si productie de ciment, automotive – productia de masini, shipping (transportul naval), inclusiv oil and gas, care este inclus in aceste 9 sectoare unde urmarim reducerea poluarii. La rezidential, este vorba despre kg de CO2 pe metru patrat. In Romania, in rezidential undeva la 50-60% din ce s-a intamplat pana acum pe finantari verzi a fost pe cladiri verzi, a avut o contributie majora la crearea de astfel de active“, mai spune acesta.

“Energia regenerabila are o contributie, este undeva pe locul al doi, probabil inca subdimensionata din simplul motiv ca a fost o instabilitate legislativa cu multi ani in urma, dar care a lasat urme in ceea ce priveste increderea investitorilor pe termen lung. Si o stabilitate legislativa care acum exista si ar trebui continuata ajuta mult in privinta asta. De asta avem acest clasament, acest rating al tipurilor de investitii“, afirma Florin Ilie.

“E loc pentru toata lumea in a face ceva sustenabil. Ce am finantat anul acesta la IMM-uri a fost ambalaje compostabile. Daca nu te uiti la regenerabile, poti sa te uiti la ambalaje compostabile, daca nici la ele atunci poti sa te uiti sa faci o cladire mai putin consumatoare de energie sau sa te uiti la masuri de combatere a eroziunii solului prin perdele verzi de protectie. Este o gramada de bani acolo pe care o putem accesa. Iar bondurile, obligatiunile poate au un regres, dar au un regres pe toate planurile. Piata de obligatiuni globala a avut un an mai slab din cauza cresterii dobanzilor, dar finantarile bancare cu siguranta compenseaza asta, iar finantarile din surse statele sau cvasi statale compenseaza. Mai degraba ma uit la capacitatea economiei de a absorbi aceste finantari“, a punctat Florin Ilie, Deputy CEO & Head Wholesale Banking ING Bank Romania in cadrul panelului de finantare al evenimentului THE SUSTAINABILITY CHALLENGE 2022.

Florin Ilie, Deputy CEO & Head of Wholesale Banking ING Bank Romania, is one of the speakers of is one of the speakers of THE SUSTAINABILITY CHALLENGE 2022, an event organized by the transaction journal MIRSANU.RO and dedicated to changes and challenges generated by sustainability in business models and financing models of the companies.

Florin Ilie took over the role of Deputy CEO and Head of Wholesale Banking of ING Bank Romania in November 2019, after 15 years in the bank.

From 2017 until 2019, Florin coordinated the Financial Markets corporate sales for 9 countries in Central and Eastern Europe, steering increased cross-border cooperation and efficiency, as well as a sector-aligned, proactive sales model. In parallel, Florin continued to manage the local Financial Markets Sales team, ING being one of the top players in the local financial market.

He joined ING in 2004 and had several assignments spanning Wholesale, Business and Retail Banking. Florin started out as Business Manager for country management, evaluating potential banking acquisition targets and developing the business plan for the Retail Banking greenfield. Next, he managed the Finance function for Retail, overseeing the outlays for the network expansion and building the MIS. Florin then moved on to manage Equity Markets sales, trading and research, leading it to top position on the market. In 2012, Florin Ilie was ranked in the top three financial analysts in Central and Eastern Europe by Thompson-Reuters.

In the financial-banking field, Florin previously worked as brokerage director, financial director and strategy director; he also worked in consulting and diplomacy.

Florin holds a master’s degree in finance from Harvard University, a master’s degree in economics and social sciences from Manchester University and a doctorate in economics from the Academy of Economic Studies. He also studied at the Universidad de Alcala and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
